Transportation Options
If you'd rather not drive yourself, there are a few good ways to get from San Francisco to Napa Valley.
- Shuttle bus: A shuttle service is a great option if you're traveling with a large group, whether for a bachelorette party or a weekend with friends.
- Private driving services: A private driving service is comfortable, easy, and worry-free — no one has to sit out the tastings to drive. Two options we recommend are WhySpit, which offers private Napa Valley tours, and Eclectic Tour, another excellent choice for a private wine tour.
- Flying: Flying into Napa Valley is uncommon but possible. Napa County Airport doesn't have scheduled commercial service, though charter flights are available. Many travelers instead fly into Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, which offers commercial flights and sits about 7 miles northwest of Santa Rosa.

Fantesca is a boutique winery on Spring Mountain, near St. Helena. The estate spans 10 acres, nine of which were planted in 1997 to Cabernet Sauvignon and one to Petit Verdot; today, Fantesca also produces Chardonnay, red blends, and Pinot Noir. Along with sweeping views, visitors enjoy a private tasting experience complete with a winery garden, fireplace, and estate caves. Tastings are by appointment, and we recommend booking several weeks ahead.
Established in 1995, Lokoya Winery produces 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from four distinct mountain appellations: Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain, and Diamond Mountain. Tastings at their Spring Mountain estate are by appointment only, making it a great choice for a quieter, more intimate visit with friends or a partner.
Founded in 1997 in St. Helena — an area known for excellent Cabernet Sauvignon — the Revana estate sits on hillside soil shaped by erosion into a gravel-rich, well-drained terroir, ideal for growing the variety. The nine-acre vineyard is divided into eight blocks, each planted with vines matched to its particular soil. Revana's wines have long centered on Cabernet Sauvignon, first guided by acclaimed winemaker Heidi Barrett and later by Thomas Rivers Brown, who now serves as Theorem Vineyards' consulting winemaker.
Richard Thornton Boswell founded this winery in 1979 with a simple idea: make small-lot, French-style wine and sell it directly to the people who drink it. Today, Château Boswell remains one of a handful of privately owned family wineries in Napa Valley — a short list that also includes Theorem Vineyards. Along the Silverado Trail in St. Helena, the estate's terroir is a striking mix of volcanic ash, red soil, and obsidian, and the winery continues to offer tastings by appointment.

Theorem Vineyards is nestled on the northern slope of Diamond Mountain in Calistoga, roughly 1,000 feet above sea level, where minimal fog, rich sunlight, and volcanic soils create ideal growing conditions. Our Diamond Mountain estate spans 60 acres of hillside land, about 20 of which are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. At our second estate, high on Moon Mountain along the Napa-Sonoma border, we grow Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and additional Cabernet Sauvignon at elevations up to 1,800 feet.
